Kathmandu (dpa)- Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra arrived in Nepal late on Friday on a personal visit.
Shinawatra flew to the Nepalese capital Kathmandu on a chartered plane from Myanmar, where he has been living in exile.
He flew directly to the city of Bhairawa, to visit the birth place of Buddha in Lumbini, a pilgrimage site for Buddhists worldwide.
He is scheduled to fly back to Myanmar on Saturday.
Shinawatra served as prime minister from 2001-06, when he was ousted in a military coup.
